CSIRO Diet Background
Looking for a diet that is completely based on medical research by a renowned institute? Well, we have an answer for you – the CSIRO diet. The CSIRO diet is based on a study which had two groups of people that had the same quantity of calories, the only difference being that one group had a carbohydrate rich diet while the other group had an protein rich diet. Both the groups had an equal amount of fat, and that was twenty percent.
The study was a clear indication that people with a protein rich diet lost more weight and they also lost in a much proper way, as compared to the individuals who were following a carbohydrates high diet.
How Does The CSIRO Diet Work?
The CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet is a complete diet, with twelve weeks of systematic menu plans. CSIRO stands for Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization. The diet consists of ingredients that are high in protein, moderate in carbohydrates and moderate in fats. The basic concept of the diet plan is:
• Foods that are rich in protein provide the individual with many important ingredients, like protein, zinc, iron, omega 3 fats and B vitamins. • Foods that are rich in protein will keep the individual satiated for a longer time, and keep the number of times the person feels hungry will decrease. • Other protein rich food, like lean meat, low fat dairy food and skinless chicken help control blood fats like triglycerides and bad cholesterol • Protein-rich foods (choose lean meat, skinless chicken and low fat dairy foods) help to control your blood fats such as triglycerides and LDL (bad) cholesterol. High levels of either are linked to increased risk of coronary heart disease.
The Verdict
CSIRO is one of the very few proven fat and weight loss diets that are available to us today. Also, CSIRO does not tout any magical formula, or any ingredient that we have not come across in our daily lives. The book only tells us what we have known all our lives, but have ignored it due to our sweet tooth and delicacy pangs. However, there are some criticisms of the diet, with people saying that it is just another placebo that is used by dieting companies to prove to people who wish to lose weight that they can lose weight with their products.
