The Healthy Weight Range

Healthy Weight Range

A 'Healthy Weight' is the range of body weight recommended for healthy adults. Maintaining your body at a healthy weight range is important to help avoid health risks that can be associated with being either: underweight, overweight or obese.

Your personal ideal weight will vary and depend on whether you are male or female, and also whether you have a light, medium or heavy-set physique.

Overweight people are generally more likely to have heart disease, diabetes, heartburn or gastric reflux, and gallstones than those who fall within the following ‘healthy weight range’. In very obese people breathing may become very difficult (particularly at night). Reducing weight to fall within the healthy weight range reduces the vast majority of these associated risks.

Life expectancy is additionally generally less in obese and overweight people. Maintaining your weight within the healthy weight range also assists making both exercise and movement easier.
